Over the past years, the founders and shareholders of Minihydro Modules AS have invested substantial financial and technical resources in the development of two innovative hydropower concepts. These R&D activities now form the technological foundation of Minihydro Modules AS and represent the core of the company’s future commercial platform within the global small-scale hydropower market.
The development of the company’s two main concepts — the Low Head Concept and the STGM Concept — has so far involved investments totaling close to EUR 4 million. Parts of these activities have been supported by funding from the European Commission, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency, and the Research Council of Norway through European and national research and innovation programmes, including Horizon Europe.
This international support reflects strong recognition of the technologies’ innovation potential, technical quality, and contribution to sustainable renewable energy development and the green energy transition.
By integrating the results from these R&D projects into Minihydro Modules AS, the company is uniquely positioned to commercialize standardized and modular hydropower solutions for international markets. Our ambition is to make low-head and modular hydropower more accessible, scalable, and cost-efficient — enabling sustainable energy production from previously underutilized water resources.
